Missouri House of Representatives
Resolution
Whereas, the members of the Missouri House of Representatives pause to recognize The Red Cedar Inn in Pacific, MO, which will be named to the National Register of Historic Places during a special celebration on June 11, 2003; and
Whereas, The Red Cedar Inn will also be presented a historic "Roadside Attraction" sign as part of the Historic Caravan traveling Route 66; and
Whereas, the formal dedication ceremony will indclude selections performed by Pacific High School students, a blessing by Fater Bertin Miller, O.F.M., and the presentation of the Certificate to the National Register of Historic Places by Dr. Kristin Zapalac of the State Historic Preservation Office in St. Louis; and
Whereas, The Red Cedar Inn was established in 1934 by James Smith and his brother, Bill, at the time when the "new" Route 66 was being constructed; and
Whereas, since its founding, The Red Cedar Inn has provided its many customers with good food, quality service, and a memorable dining experience unlike any other; and
Whereas, The Red Cedar Inn is a member of the Internal Credit Reserve Exchange, the Route 66 Association of Missouri, the National Commercial Exchange, and the International Trade Exchange; and
Whereas, mentioned in Lycos Travel, The Red Cedar Inn also enjoys distinction for being listed in the Route 66 Association of Missouri Historical Business Preservation, the Pacific Chamber of Commerce, Metropark of Route 66, and the Route 66 Research Page:
Now, therefore, be it resolved that we, the members of the Missouri House of Representataives, Ninety-secon General Assembly, unamimously join in extending our most hearty congratulations to Wes Karna, owner of The Red Cedar Inn business; Katherin Smith, owner of the Red Cedar Inn property; and to all the dedicated employees of The Red Cedar Inn as they proudly celebrate this momentous milestone in their rich history; and
Be it further resolved that the Chief Clerk of the Missouri House of Representatives be instructed to prepare a properly inscribed copy of this resolution for The Red Cedar Inn in Pacific, Missouri.
